I've had a few emails in about Elgiganten so thought it the right thing to do to update the site about my dealings with them and specifically my Panasonic TV.
Basically the level of service I've had from Elgiganten in the eighteen months I've been dealing with them has been, quite literally, the worst I've ever had from a company that is dealing with consumers. If it was a pure language barrier I'd factor that in but it's nothing to do with language - it's just really poor service.
I won't go into details again but basically I didn't desert Elgiganten and when they said my TV was coming back I waited in - I even emailed them giving them a window for when I knew I was going to be home for a few short hours (during my holiday), because I really wanted my TV back.
It came back and for all of about a day it was fine. Then the purple snake was back. I phone Panasonic, they tell me to take photos and email to Elgiganten. Elgiganten don't even ask - I have to offer these up.
I emailed my man in Stockholm who then weaved his magic and I got a mail from the store. I've not asked for a refund but they are suggesting that if the TV comes back again and it's still got the purple snake issue, I'll get one.
I'd really quite like my TV because I think it's now found it's place and we can finish the room. If the TV comes back with the purple snake again, I don't think I'll be buying Panasonic again.
Anyway, Elgiganten have picked up my TV this afternoon, left me a brand new LG 42" HD with my two HDMI slots and all I have to do now is wait for mine to come back. They've not actually told me this time how long it will be but if my dealings with Elgiganten have taught me anything it's that it doesn't really matter how long they say as it could end up taking forever.
There is a funny side to all this - I found out this week that Elgiganten is part of DSG International. If you know me you'll know why that is funny.
