It's not often I get really annoyed with a company that I actually print off all my emails, dig out receipts and store them away in case I lose any of my evidence, but Elgiganten is one of those companies.
I'm not linking to them because they don't deserve it. In fact all I'll say is, if you're living in Sweden and thinking about buying something electronic don't buy it from Elgiganten.
I had problems quite literally from the day my Panasonic arrived. The guy that delivered it and put it up for me used the wrong screws in the back and damaged the speakers. This ultimately meant I had to get a new one, but that took six months and me refusing a bribe to take a different TV in it's place.
After I finally got my new one it wasn't long after I started to notice the dreaded Panasonic purple snake. Panasonic say this can be fixed at your home, but Elgiganten have to take it away for two weeks. Well, two weeks is what they tell you anyway.
First, they deny any knowledge of the purple snake and pretend like they've never heard of it. Then when you finally convince them it's a problem they tell you they need to take away the TV. Panasonic tell me this can be fixed in twenty minutes at your home. Still, the muppets at Elgiganten must know what they're doing.
The thing is, the service from this company has been nothing but mostly appalling from day one so I wanted to know who they are using to fix my TV, they tell me it's someone called Powermill.
One search for Powermill and I find that they don't always meet deadlines they set so I demand another TV while mine is away. However, I'm assured it will only be two weeks.
Two weeks pass and nothing. I don't even hear from the company that shouldn't be used so I chase them. And chase them and chase them. Bloody useless.
Eventually I call the sales manager for TV's in Stockholm and explain my situation then email him my details. Do I hear from him? What do you think! Instead I get someone from the store telling me nothing.
What he actually tries to tell me is the part will be coming in last Monday, not Monday just gone the Monday before and that I'd have my TV last week.
I asked for a date, because I've heard so much crap from this company that I wanted something in writing. He couldn't tell me a date so I pushed him to give me December 1st.
He wrote me an email saying it would be December 1st or they'd give me a full refund. I don't know when I'll get my TV back, but I have there one and it's okay as a temporary.
But this company is absolutely useless and while they might have some decent offers in store, if anything ever goes wrong, don't expect them to be as keen to help you when fixing something as they are when trying to sell you something.
Just in case you were interested, my TV got picked up on September 5th and it was supposed to be back with me in two weeks. It's now October 9th and for that poor chap at the local store who doesn't know yet, I've saved this right to the very end, I'm going on holiday until December 9th, so when I come back I'll be looking for a full refund.
