FIFA 08 finally arrived at the weekend and I eagerly inserted the disc into my XBOX 360. Boy, was I disappointed.
FIFA 07 was a good game; it was certainly better than previous versions and it made a few leaps but as is so often the case with the FIFA games from EA Sports, the steps taken are not good enough to warrant the upgrade.
I have no doubt they'll sell this game and make an absolute fortune but there really isn't any difference between FIFA 07 and this one. If you've got money to throw away then by all means buy this game but if after reading this you still buy it then please send me some cash too.
If you've got 07 don't bother buying this game. If you've not got 07 go get it and save yourself a few quid as it will no doubt be cheaper. If you are one of those addicted to the FIFA brand and you're going to buy it regardless, don't take it out of the wrapping because it might be worth something wrapped in a few years time.
When I turned the game on and found it was pretty much the exact same interface I had with 07 I knew I wasn't going to have fun. Then, I found everything else is pretty much the same and to be honest I feel a little cheated by the game.
Sure, a few things have changed, but it really doesn't warrant the expense.
Still, Halo 3 is out and that does warrant my time and when I start in on that later in the week I hope I'm not as disappointed as I am with FIFA 08, otherwise it will be time to seriously consider sending back the 360 and looking more at the PS3.
